Curriculum

Building Strong Minds with Superior Resources

Conway Public Schools is recognized for its rigorous, well-defined curriculum, and for the quality of academic programs and extra-curricular activities both at the elementary and secondary levels.

Across the curriculum, critical thinking skills are fostered in our students in an effort to equip them with effective problem solving and decision making abilities. Our academic curriculum also incorporates state-of-the-art technology tools and instruction to prepare our students for post-secondary education and/or successful careers.

Our curriculum has been aligned with the Arkansas state standards with K-2 being aligned to the Common Core State Standards; and to retain our high level of student achievement, Conway Public Schools has summative and formative assessment programs in place to guide teacher instruction and prepare students for the state's benchmark exams and standardized tests.

It is our philosophy that students are provided with the opportunity to develop academically and socially to the best of their abilities and that the most effective education for all children is one commensurate with their abilities. To successfully meet the needs of each of our students, Conway Public Schools offers Vocational Career and Technical Education programs, intervention labs, Title I programs, a comprehensive literacy program, special education programs, Advanced Placement Courses and extensive extra-curricular activities to complement our regular curriculum.

Common Core State Standards

During the 2011-2012 school year, grades K-2 will be fully implementing CCSS for English Language Arts and Mathematics while grades 5-6 will be implementing CCSS for English Language Arts. For more information on the Common Core State Standards, please click here.
