Summer Professional Development

Teachers & Administrators

Professional Development

Professional development is not effective unless it causes teachers to improve their instruction or causes administrators to become better school leaders.

PD 2012 Summer Dates

District Professional Development Days for this summer are Friday, June 1st and Monday, June 4th. June 1st offerings include Child Maltreatment/Parental Involvement, Teen Suicide/Bullying, Arkansas History, Arkansas Scholorhip Lottery Act, and Web 2.0 Tools. June 4th will be technology/technology integration with sessions tailored to specific grades and subjects.

Building level PD dates vary. Check the listings on escWorks for building dates.

District and Building Level PD can be used as Flex. All other PD must have Principal and Director of Instructional Services approval to receive Flex.

PD Handbook Update

Please take a few moments to read through the new ADE Rules and district changes in the CPSD Professions Development Handbook. Also, all forms have been updated. NOTICE: there is no pre-approved list. All PD (except district and building level PD) must be approved by your principal.

 

District Documents

  • Course Approval Application: This form is for anyone seeking ADE approval for graduate class to count toward professioinal development. This form must be sent into the state prior to sending it to the district office. The school district authority is your building administrator. In the event you cannot locate him or her, a director's signature would suffice. (pdf)
  • Call for Presentations Application: This form is for those who are applying to present professional development activities in the district. (pdf)
  • Building Approval: This form is used by Building Principals and Building Teachers. This form documents the PD approved by the Building Principal for the initial sixty required hours. (pdf)
  • PD Evaluation: This form is to be used by schools or individuals to evaluate the professional development activities presented in the district. (pdf)
  • Sample Licensure/Years of Experience Record: This document is for teachers and administrators to document licensure and years of experience for easy recall. (Word.docx)
  • Sample Professional Development Record for Administrators: This document is for administrators to log professional development hours annually. It profides the dates and times for easy recall. (Word.docx)
